For those of us who feel that two of the best ways to spend a summer day are hanging out with friends eating good food and taking your dog to the dog park Mutts Cantina has given us great place to do both at the same time because this brand new spot is a restaurant and dog park all in one! Located on the former Hank Haney Golf Course land Mutts Cantina offers your dog 2 acres of open space to run and romp and with it being and open air restaurant your pup is more than welcome to join you and your friends for cold drinks and tasty food.

Along with a dog park Mutts Cantina offers a full service restaurant and bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week. Specializing in classic American food Mutts will be serving all your lunch and dinner favorites  like burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer and wine with breakfast choices ranging from coffee and breakfast tacos to yogurt parfaits and donuts. Besides the dog park, al fresco dining for up to 200 people and delicious food options here are three more reasons Mutts is a great place to spend time with your two and four legged friends

1.They only use naturally raised, grass-fed beef, with no hormones or antibiotics from Harris Farms and their hotdogs are made with Nathan’s Famous 100% beef franks

2. Hypnotic Donuts will be the ones supplying Mutts with their donut selection and vegan options will be available Monday and Tuesdays

3. All their draft beer selections will come from Dallas-based breweries.

Belly & Trumpet Will Begin Sunday Brunch this Weekend

You’ve probably noticed the elaborately scripted sign for Belly & Trumpet on the quaint little Uptown house that used to house The Bowery. Speaking of which – The Bowery… not so good. Belly & Trumpet… really, really good. But as most new restaurants tend to do, it was only open for dinner when it opened in mid-February. Thankfully, Executive Chef Brian Zenner’s (Chef de Cuisine, Oak) perfectly-balanced and innovative sharable plates will be available for brunch-philes starting this Sunday, April 7, and from the looks of it, it’s going to be really, really good.

“We are striving to extend beyond the ordinary in everything we do.  We are challenging ourselves to be inventive and thoughtful, often taking a classic favorite and adding an exciting twist.  Regardless, our primary goal is for our food to be consistently soulful and delicious, “ explains Zenner.

Mutts – a Modern Day Roadside Burger Stand & Dog Park in Uptown

For anyone who’s ever felt the aching guilt of enjoying a cold beer, burger, or frozen custard with friends while their four-legged companion sits in solitude at home, all that is about to change when Mutts comes to Uptown in late May.

Located on the former Hank Haney Golf Course land, the modern day “roadside” burger stand by Josh Sepkowitz and Kyle Noonan of Freerange Concepts (Bowl & Barrel, Sunset LoungeThe Rustic) will serve burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer and wine for lunch and dinner as well as breakfast tacos, bagels and coffee for breakfast.

Dishcrawl Dallas Heads to Uptown March 5

If you haven’t heard of Dishcrawl, it’s basically a bar crawl, but with food! Really good food like the last crawl held in West Village dishcrawlfeaturing Malai Kitchen, Cru Wine Bar, and Tu-Lu’s Bakery or the first one held in Downtown featuring Fuse Japan and the Chesterfield. Convinced yet?

First started in San Jose, California, Dishcrawl is now in 125 cities across America and has just recently landed in Dallas. The goal is to bring food lovers, local chefs, and regional food producers together for a culinary social experience. Attendees dine in four restaurants that help define the city they live in.

The Rustic Will Bring Live Music to Uptown’s West Village

What do you get when you combine the boys behind Bowl & Barrel, celebrated chef Sharon Hage, Dallas businessman Brian Manion, Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Pat Green, and Uptown’s hip West Village? Something amazing obviously; but more specifically, The Rustic, a full service restaurant and bar with a “backyard” feel and live music. West Village has been in desperate need of a live music venue, and who better to fill the gap than this talented crew?

Drink for Democracy!

The Official Drink for Democracy Happy Hour will take place on October 27 from 4 – 6pm at Dish Restaurant and Lounge but this easy-to-use website has created an incentive for potential drinkers to stay involved throughout the entire election period. It’s no secret that Lombardi restaurants are awesome, swanky and a Dallas staple. With a repertoire including Toulouse, Sangria and Penne Pomodoro; you know it’s gonna be good. I recently tried Taverna Pizzeria and Risottoria and will be the first to say, “It’s amore.”

I took a trip to the food-filled country of Italy in May and I’ve pretty much stayed away from Italian food since then. First off, it’s hard to compare American Italian to real Italian; and second, I was sick of it. So after a solid two months, I was ready to return to pastas, pizzas and heavy sauces.

A Tale of Two Mi Cocinas

Oh Mi Cocina, I’ve loved you from the moment I first laid eyes on you in Highland Park Village three years ago. Your modern decor, your swanky family attendees, your addictive Tex-Mex and of course your ‘Mambo Taxis‘. I would wait 45 minutes for one of your tables any night of the week.

Mi Cocina has been a consistent favorite of mine since I first came to Southern Methodist University, but the HP Village one, not the Uptown one. I had never made the journey down the expressway because I didn’t think I needed to, I had all the ‘Mambo Taxis’ and Tacos “De Brisket” I needed right here in Park Cities. But I’m here to tell you, it was worth the trip.

The Porch Serves Up Comfort for All

For me, The Porch on N. Henderson Avenue couldn’t be more perfect. Combining comfort food with a hip, social atmosphere, it has quickly become one of my go-to restaurants for any occasion. Their tagline, “Downhome Food / Uptown Cocktails” perfectly captures the nature of the diverse menu concocted by Nick Badovinus (chef and owner of The Porch, Hibiscus, Fireside Pies and Neighborhood Services, just to name a few).

And it’s not just the food that’s diverse. Walk into The Porch on a Friday night and you’ll see college-students grabbing a quick cocktail, twenty-somethings dressed to the nines, families with little kids, and some very stylish (or not-so-stylish) over-50 set.
