Hmmmmm. A music festival in Frisco called Oysterfest…after the BP disaster? I realize that this sounds like a terrible idea for several reasons…but it’s not. And here’s why:
Lochrann’s Pub in Frisco has been holding a live music series every Thursday night in an effort to develop Frisco’s Main Street drag as an arts / entertainment district. Thanks to successfully booking some pretty well known local artists, it’s working. Again, I know what you’re thinking – cutting edge music + Frisco = not so much. But a few months ago I caught The Burning Hotels, and weeks later Smile Smile…for free…at a cocktail table inches away from the stage…while drinking $8 pitchers of beer. Because the bands they were booking have such a large and loyal cult following, word spread. The effort was so well received in fact, that they eventually added Friday night sets – and soon began planning an outdoor festival.
