Hmmmmm.  A music festival in Frisco called Oysterfest…after the BP disaster?  I realize that this sounds like a terrible idea for several reasons…but it’s not.  And here’s why:

Lochrann’s Pub in Frisco has been holding a live music series every Thursday night in an effort to develop Frisco’s Main Street drag as an arts / entertainment district.  Thanks to successfully booking some pretty well known local artists, it’s working.  Again, I know what you’re thinking – cutting edge music + Frisco = not so much.  But a few months ago I caught The Burning Hotels, and weeks later Smile Smile…for free…at a cocktail table inches away from the stage…while drinking $8 pitchers of beer.  Because the bands they were booking have such a large and loyal cult following, word spread.  The effort was so well received in fact, that they eventually added Friday night sets – and soon began planning an outdoor festival.

Despite living in an urban area, it’s amazing the amount of wildlife that lives just outside your door.

My yard has been a home, or at least a temporary  path, to an amazing amount of wildlife.  Everyone has the normal selection of birds; bluejays, cardinals, doves, sparrows, grackles.  Dogs, cats, and squirrels are never hard to find, either.  But there’s always more.

Just…keep the kids away from the bar.

Have you ever dropped your kids off at a party, and wished you could have stayed? Not for the sole purpose of supervising your kids, but to hang out, play some games, and indulge in that oh-so-tempting slice of pizza? Well now, you can drop your kids off at the party, and have some fun of your own. At Main Event in Plano, the kids will go crazy for laser tag and a plethora of arcade games while grown-ups can gather in the bowling alley, or play a game of pool in the billiard room. Main Event has Summer fun bowling leagues for the die-hard fans. There’s even a full-service bar. Yes I said it, a bar (cue sigh of relief). So grab the kids, their friends, your friends, and your friend’s friends, hop in the car, and head to the place where you’ll all have fun. And yes, there will be pizza.
