BFOC is bringing back the On the Trail of Lee Harvey Oswald history tour bicycle ride on Sunday, April 30th 2017 at 11:30AM starting at Dealey Plaza in Downtown Dallas, and passing the infamous residences of JFK’s alleged assassin. This ride will be weather permitting so check back for updates. Highlights of the trip will include:

Texas House Bill 3418 Threatens Local

Preservation Ordinance

Preservation Dallas Members,

A bill has been introduced in this Texas Legislative Session that threatens to undermine local control over historic preservation decisions. Preservation Dallas OPPOSES HB 3418.

House Bill 3418 seeks to streamline demolitions of historic places throughout the state, makes it more difficult to designate landmarks, and would strip power from municipalities to enact and govern zoning related to historic buildings and districts. This threatens our ability to preserve and reinvest in our own communities. Please review the language of the bill and Preservation Texas’s summary of its implications. Then, TODAY or MONDAY, please call and/or e-mail the members of the Urban Affairs Committee, who will conduct a hearing on HB 3418 on Tuesday, April 11 beginning at 10:30am. Citizen input is crucial to stop this destructive bill that threatens historic buildings and districts throughout the state of Texas. The contact information for the Urban Affairs Committee members is below. You may also choose to copy the Mayor, City Council, and City Manager’s Office.
