YPD: Out of all the neighborhoods in Dallas, you chose Lakewood. Why is this community special to you?
CB: It’s eclectic, fun, totally family oriented.  Feels like a SMALL town but you’re in Dallas!  The schools do so many things to involve the families … movie nights, carnivals, popsicle parties.  It’s so fun!  I love the diverse architecture of the homes, the trees and being so close to the lake.
YPD: Speaking of homes and trees, which Lakewood street is your favorite for taking in the sights?
CB: Tokalon…aahhhh

a letter to Lakewoodstock

Dear Lakewoodstock,

I’ve been anxiously awaiting your arrival. You’ve been marked in my calendar for months. And now…only one day stands in between you and me…and I can barely contain my excitement.

Why do I love you so?  Below are the reasons I think you’re tops.

1.  Sometimes, I get hungry. But I know at Lakewoodstock, the local vendors of Lakewood Village Shopping Center will be on hand with food and beverages to enjoy. And that, fun festival, is just plain yummy.

2.  Sometimes, I like to be sung to.  And there you are, dear festival, with live music all day from bands like The Electro-Magnetics, Homespun Remedies, The Sutcliffes, Hunter Hendrickson, Local Honey, Colin Boyd, Southbound Lane, Club Wood, Plowboy, Thin White Dukes, Tres Leches Trio, Darryl Lee Rush, Jackson Eli, Jim Suhler & Jason Elmore, Jill Allison Bryan, Doug Bryan, Rahim Quazi, Nick Chatum, and Jay Gummer.

3. Sometimes, I like to impress my family by taking them to do cool stuff.  You’ve got activities for both the young and the young-at-heart, like face-painting, puppet-making, shrinky dinks, a photo booth, laser tag, a bungee trampoline, a video arcade and a climbing wall…just to name a few. A glass of the Adirondack, please

Drinking a glass of wine at 1:30pm on a weekday is an integral part of my being. Nia Vardalos and I are currently working on the installation of My Big Fat Italian Drinking Problem. (Kidding.) Today, my friend and I are visiting Times Ten Cellars to sample Lakewood’s finest. We arrived at the beautiful venue as Kert, the founding partner, was cleaning up remnants of their 5th year anniversary party from the night before. My kind of place already.
