HPHS science team wins 6th consecutive state championship

The Highland Park High School science team won its sixth consecutive UIL 4A title at the state academic meet May 5-7 in Austin. The team, coached by HPHS teacher Wenzen Chuang, includes:

  • Danny Ham 
  • Alex Levine
  • Paul Wei
  • Kevin Yan


Individually, Alex earned first place in the science category, with the top score in biology and the second-highest score in physics. Paul and Danny earned second and third place in science, respectively.

Additionally, the mathematics team earned fifth place and the computer science team placed fourth in the competition. The teams' cumulative score placed HPHS in a tie for third place overall.


Alex Levine, Paul Wei, Kevin Yan and Danny Ham earned the HPHS science team    its sixth consecutive UIL 4A state championship.
