This year, the annual Plano Balloon Festival took place over a rainy September weekend. Festival participants geared up their balloons to take flight in the Texas sky before learning the weather was too dangerous for take off.

This is one of the first years that a balloon never launched on Friday or Saturday during the festival. But this didn’t put a damper on the mood; the ground was alight with colorful balloons standing upright, families and friends walked around from balloon to balloon, and kids climbed in the balloon baskets and pretended to prepare for lift off.
