Dancer Jamie Thompson, dressed all in red, stands strong and poised. He says, "It's very important for us to have the arts, you know? We have the scientists and we have to have the dancer, we have the teachers and we have to have the dramatics, becuase who's going to give us the comic relief? You know?"

Near Downtown's One Arts Plaza, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre is the oldest, continuously running dance company in Dallas. The ensemble, a contemporary modern dance company, consists of 12 professional, full-time dancers performing a mixed repertory of modern dance, jazz dance, ethnic and spiritual works by nationally and internationally known choreographers.

In his first season with Dallas Black Dance Theatre, Dancer Jamie Thompson relates to his audience through the energy of his movement in contemporary modern dance. Truly streamlined athletes, the agile dancers of Dallas Black Dance Theatre fly across the stage. See the dancers come alive when the music starts.
