Creativity exists in business, for real

Posted by    |    February 24th, 2011 at 8:21 pm

Thursday night looking bleak? Well, do this instead of your weekly date with NBC: The 3rd Annual UCR Retail As Art photography invitational kickoff party is tonight, 6pm-8pm at Design Within Reach. Guest speakers include:

Paul Morgan of Paul Morgan Photography and Three Three Three First Avenue, Jeff Breazeale and Liz Burnett of The Matchbox Studio, and Mickey Ashmore of United Commercial Realty. They will be discussing the importance of photography (not just boring, stock photography; rather, creative, boundary-pushing photography) in business.

Food will be provided by the talented Lisa Garza. There will also be a wine bar. I don’t think I have to convince you any further. NBC will be okay without you for one night.

Design Within Reach is located at 4524 McKinney Avenue Ste 103

Vegas who?

Posted by    |    August 4th, 2010 at 11:55 am

It’s summertime, and it’s safe to say I’ve been dreaming about lounging poolside in Vegas with drink in hand, and another on the way. I’ve been compensating by laying out at my apartment complex, but it’s just not the same … until I met Brian. Brian works at State Thomas’ newest wine venue, The Alcove, where he efficiently orbits my apartment’s pool with large crates of beer and wine, delivering orders to my fellow sun-worshippers. Oh, and did I mention they serve late night tacos until 2 am? Win. So who needs Vegas anyway? With poolside delivery from The Alcove, what happens in Uptown, stays in Uptown.

Master Wine Tasting Event

Now through July 26, The Capital Grille will be hosting it’s popular Master Wine Tasting Event.

For a wine lover, there is nothing quite so exciting as having access to a selection of the world’s most renowned wines. Except, of course, being introduced to rare and remarkable wines that only a Master Sommelier knows about.

Master Sommelier George Miliotes (one of 170 in the world) has carefully assembled for you a spectacular collection
of famous wines you may know and insider wines you’ll want to know from California, Europe and Down Under.
