For me, The Porch on N. Henderson Avenue couldn’t be more perfect. Combining comfort food with a hip, social atmosphere, it has quickly become one of my go-to restaurants for any occasion. Their tagline, “Downhome Food / Uptown Cocktails” perfectly captures the nature of the diverse menu concocted by Nick Badovinus (chef and owner of The Porch, Hibiscus, Fireside Pies and Neighborhood Services, just to name a few).

And it’s not just the food that’s diverse. Walk into The Porch on a Friday night and you’ll see college-students grabbing a quick cocktail, twenty-somethings dressed to the nines, families with little kids, and some very stylish (or not-so-stylish) over-50 set.

Instead of making the Man of the House grill steaks this weekend, treat him and the whole family to Morton’s Steakhouse in Uptown. On Father’s Day the illustrious chef Jason Peppin will be hosting a hands on demonstration on how to grill the perfect steak.  Jason will go through the process step and step teaching the whole family the art of grilling. After the demonstration everyone will get to enjoy their masterpiece and indulge in a delicious three course meal which includes:  one soup or salad, your personal steak, and a dessert. Happy Father’s Day!

Wink Threading Salon on McKinney has officially converted me into an eyebrow threading enthusiast. I was a little skeptical before I went inside, but as soon as I stepped into the tiny salon my fears were put to rest. The staff was welcoming and the warm atmosphere and modern decor immediately put me at ease.
