Cedars Open Studios and American Beauty Mill Gallery Open Their Doors Nov. 19th.

Cedars Open Studios and the American Beauty Mill has their 9th annual tour Nov. 19th 12pm-6

This year’s Cedar Open Studios tour tops out with the work from over 80 local artists including 3 large group shows; from South Side Lamar to Hardwood St., C.O.S. banners will hang form the gates of art studios that our open to visitors.

Best way to experience this journey through Dallas’ hidden art scene, is to join the Cedars Bike Tour. Bike Tour starts at 1pm and 3pm at Cedars Space Park (1521 Hickory Street), this guided tour will lead you past the Cedars’ art hotspots like.

RE-gallery, organized by UTA professor Wanda Dye, will show off the work of  40 artists gifted in the media of recycled art, fashion, and architecture. RE Gallery just so happens to be located next to Lee Harvey’s, the Cedar’s best watering hole. (more…)

Art in South Dallas

If nothing more than the art, it is worth a trip to the Cedars to see these creative, extraordinary wall murals.

Inside the South Side on Lamar building, there is a picturesque mural of what South Side looked like quite some time ago. If that was really what it looked like back then, I would’ve unpacked my bags and called South Side home. The bright colors and close attention to detail make it look as if you could walk straight into the Café Coffee Shop painted on the mural and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere.
