Abi Ferrin Fall 2013 Behind the Scenes

Here’s a quick bio of Abi Ferrin for anyone not in the know about this incredible Dallas designer. After some time pursuing broadcast journalism in DC and working at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, the Jackson Hole native moved to Dallas to be with her cousin in 2005 where she began to pursue her childhood hobby.

Abi Ferrin Fall 2013 Behind the ScenesHer eye-catching designs had already caught the attention of celebrities and media during her time in Hollywood, but it wasn’t until she was crowned Texas’ Next Top Designer in 2007 that she was fully prepared to take a chance in the fashion world. Abi’s unique creations as well as the philanthropic arm of the company, The Freedom Project, have skyrocketed her to a position as one of Dallas’ most beloved designers.

Dallas Designers Come Together “For Whitney” – 9.18.12

A symbol of perseverance and faith, Whitney Mitchell is truly a role model for her generation. In November of 2010, Whitney became gravely ill with sepsis from an infection and was put on life support. Both arms and legs had to be amputated in order to save her life. Instead of giving up, Whitney has shown incredible courage over the past couple of years and continues to be a symbol of strength.

The “For Whitney” Fashion Show and Fundraiser in Southside on Lamar honors and supports the inspirational young woman with a runway show, silent auction and raffle. The runway show features designers Abi Ferrin, Izavel, Shona, and Elizabeth Anyaa, with a live performance by The Maylee Thomas Band. Hors d’oeurves provided by Lombardi’s Catering, Luna de Noche, Eddie Deen Catering, and So Savvy Events with cocktails including Monticello Wines and Heineken. TV personality/host/model/actress, LeeAnne Locken, will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies.

The Abi Ferrin Studio

There’s a lot of creativity happening in the basement of South Side on Lamar, and what better representation of that creativity than Abi Ferrin’s studio. On its surface, it’s a store like any other, but step into the back studio and you’ll witness the flurry of the creation of her one-of-a-kind designs.

There’s a promising future ahead for this young fashion guru. Ferrin has been named “Texas’ Next Top Designer” by both the Dallas Fashion Incubator and Stanley Korshak, Her trendsetting, colorful designs are about to be splashed over Nordstrom nationwide this summer.

The Super Bowl will take place at Cowboys Stadium this coming year, which is awesome in itself, but this just makes it even cooler:

The 10th Annual Super Bowl Awards Banquet and Fashion Show benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will feature Dallas Designer Abi Ferrin, winner of Texas Top Designer in 2007. This is huge. Massive, in fact. She’s already all over In Style and US Weekly, but think about how many people 1) watch the Super Bowl (even if only for the commercials. Which is why I watch the Super Bowl. Forget about getting up from the game to make a sandwich during the Budweiser commercials – I do it when the game is in play. What could possible be interesting about the 2nd quarter? Okay back to the article.) 2) enjoy fashion and 3) are always on the hunt for new designers. Lucky girl.

“Really what we’re excited about is this opportunity to be featured at the Super Bowl this year. The players’ wives have chosen the Abi Ferrin brand to be the fashion show for the players’ wives luncheon, “Off the Field”, which will benefit St. Jude Hospital,” said the designer during the event at her South Side on Lamar studio. Abi’s mission is “Fashion with Freedom and Purpose”, and her list of clients includes many ‘A-listers’ and Off the Field wives. (more…)
