Jessie Ware started her career in music in a really good place, collaborating with music producer SBTRKT on his song Nervous which led to an opportunity to work with singer Sampha. Together they wrote and recorded Valentine, a song lovely in its sweetness and simplicity. With these two songs and a number of other vocal collaborations with artists like Joker, Jessie generated a wave of hype that landed her a record deal with PMR Records. Soon after Jessie put out her debut album Devotion.

Devotion is worth listening to several hundred times. On it Jessie blends R&B style vocals with synth infused beats to create songs about love and its trials. The songs are at times soulful and dramatic and other times bright and playful, but always mesmerizing. Now on tour, Jessie Ware will be making a stop at South Side Music Hall next Thursday, so don’t miss this chance to see her live and be captivated by her unique sound.
