Imagine Dragons Play South Side Ballroom this Friday AND Saturday

Posted by    |    September 27th, 2013 at 7:12 pm

This weekend is going to be a good weekend. How do I know? Because not only is the Texas State Fair Kicking off today but incase you didn’t see it on,  tonight is the first of two shows Imagine Dragons will be playing at South Side Ballroom. That’s right Imagine Dragons are playing not one but TWO shows in Dallas this weekend. I think this band’s entry into the popular music scene could be described as explosive to say the least. With only a few synth-pop inspired EPs  and one full length album, Night Visions, this band is ruling the radio with with their hit Radioactive. Catch their small shows now because next time they come back around they’ll probably be packing the American Airlines Center.

2013-lsr-logo-smallCalling all bike riders! This Saturday, September 28th, the Lone Star Ride Fighting AIDS (LSRFA) will be getting cyclists together and hitting the back roads of Dallas/Ft.Worth and the North Texas country side. For thirteen years LSRFA has been riding to raise money for organizations such as AIDS Services of Dallas, AIDS Outreach of Tarrant County and Resource Center of Dallas. These organizations offer services such as housing, hot meals, food pantries, HIV testing, counseling, and other basic needs for more than 20,000 clients with HIV/AIDS in North Texas.

LSRFA rides are known to be high energy good times with pit stops that offer refreshments, bike tech support, high-quality meals donated by area restaurants and even massages. Plus the LSFRA crew will be there to cheer you on and make sure you’re smiling. If you’re a little new to biking don’t worry whether or not the ride will kick your butt because at LSRFA you can choose how far you want to go, whether it be 10 miles or 100 miles as long as you’re having fun.

While they both fall under the indie music category each band brings a different mood to their music. The National have a more love lorn tone to their sound and lyrics that you can hear on their newest single entitled Sea Of Love off their newest album Trouble Will Find Me.

While Tame Impala will keep the crowd moving with their “psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock” songs from their latest record Lonerism, making sure everyone leaves feeling good and groovy.

Untapped Festival: Indie Music and Beer at Gilley’s

Posted by    |    September 5th, 2013 at 7:10 pm

When it comes to having a good time beer and music is one of, if not the, best combinations to make that happen. If you agree with this statement then get yourself down to Gilley’s  tomorrow for the annual Untapped Festival. See, the organizers of Untapped Festival saw that at both music and beer festivals there was always an imbalance, beer festivals rarely had good music and music festivals rarely had good beer. So they decided to give you both by bringing you some of the best up and coming artists both in music and in craft beer. At Untapped Festival  you’ll get to enjoy  a selection of over 200 different kinds of beer from 60 different breweries and  hear music from 4 indie music acts from around the country. Artisans and food trucks will also be there hanging out with the brewers and musicians creating what the organizers like to call “vibrant village activity.”
