Be One of the Village People This Friday in Highland Park

Posted by    |    November 23rd, 2011 at 10:13 am

Ah, the spirit of the season.  And the spirit of shopping! Combine those two loves this Black Friday afternoon at the shopping mecca that is Highland Park Village.

According to the HPV: “Experience the magic of the holiday season at Highland Park Village on Friday, November 25th during the center’s annual yuletide celebration that has become a community tradition. Festivities will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. and will include dance performances, caroling, face painting, photos with Santa, and the lighting of the Highland Park Village Christmas tree and famous holiday lights.”

Browse upscale brands like Cole Haan, Tory Burch, and Harry Winston while admiring the twinkling lights and sipping hot chocolate.  Oh, and bring your hefty list of wishes to gab with Santa about while he’s in the village. Hey, it can’t hurt!

Still not convinced you want to get out of the house and brave the throngs of people?  Take a look at this video of last year’s event and it will definitely change your mind.

See you there….

Your Feet Will Thank You: Where to Buy Cute and Comfy Flats

Posted by    |    October 6th, 2011 at 7:30 am

The word “flat” may have a negative connotation, but it certainly doesn’t when it comes to shoes. Flats have been a girl’s other best friend for years, saving feet one shopping trip at a time. Heck, they’ve become so widely popular that even Dr. Scholl’s created a foldable, rollable pair in three sizes for women to pack in their purse on the go (for under $10, no less). Flats are perfect for travel, daytime, nighttime, anytime, so why not invest in several pairs that you can use when giving those sky high Choo’s a rest? Here are a few local places who carry the best selection around.

Stanley Korshak at The Crescent: When looking for a top-notch designer flat, Korshak is the stuff dreams are made of. With a broad range from Toms to Lanvin, the shoe department carries every color, size, and shape you could want. If you’re feeling a little wild, try the Guiseppe Zanotti ballet flat in Leopard Pony Hair for $595. An investment for sure, but what a gorgeous one.

I Spy Thigh High

Posted by    |    September 9th, 2010 at 2:14 pm

I have found my fall fashion obsession: a pair of thigh high Christian Louboutin black boots.  They are buttery soft, high heeled deliciousness.  These babies are a far cry from the Cole Haan penny loafers I begged my Mom for during junior high back to school shopping.  Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth both have them (for a whopping $2395,) and I’m planning on checking out the new CL boutique in Highland Park Village during Fashion’s Night Out tomorrow evening to see the whole fall collection. My only question: are these leather lovelies more fantasy than reality? More Kat Von D than Sandra Dee?  (Read: Will I look like I work a street corner with these on, or can they look classy?) Mom, I think I already know what your answer will be.
