Remember the good old scavenger hunt?  I had a birthday party once that was basically a mall scavenger hunt, complete with goofy Poloroid photos taken at each location.  (We weren’t cool enough for camera phones at age 12. Either that, or they weren’t invented yet.) Either way, you don’t have to give up the thrill of the hunt just because you’re a grown-up.  On April 14, Revlon and ELLE will give away a $3,000 “Power Purse” to the first person arriving at the secret “drop” location, which have been revealed through nine cryptic clues released on Revlon’s Facebook page starting March 19. Intrigued and wondering what the heck a power purse is? I was too.

The “Power Purse”, straight off the Paris runways and valued at over $3,000, contains a specially curated mix of must-have makeup, accessories and tech gadgets put together by the trendsetting team at ELLE. The Dallas “Power Purse” will be the first of four bags appearing across the country alongside four additional bags which will be available via online  sweepstakes to players outside the drop areas. The nine clues will be released a week apart for the first three weeks and then daily in the final five days of the cycle. During the final week, purse hunters can head to Revlon’s Facebook for daily clues, and other exciting instant win prizes including Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel with Top & Base Coat* and Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara*. Best Products for Long, Luscious Hair

Posted by    |    April 10th, 2012 at 10:32 am

I’m totally biased about which hair product line I think does a fantastic job, but I feel confident sharing my personal opinion as I’ve come to realize an overwhelming majority of women who have tried it feel the same way.  In addition to sharing my hair fav, there are several other hair products that have been tried, tested, and approved by some of the most gorgeous women in the city…and now, you’ll have the secrets in your hair arsenal.

Best Overall Hair Care Line: Fekkai

There’s something about Frederic.  This line gives body to your hair without weighing it down, feeling sticky, or smelling too strong of perfumes.  It smells clean, provides stellar shine, and also requires you to use less product.  (Which helps justify the slightly higher cost.)  You can go longer in between washes and the Brilliant Glossing cream will have you singing its praises. I wholeheartedly endorse this entire line-it’s almost the only product line I use anymore because the results have been phenomenal. I give it two thumbs up and snaps in a circle! (more…)

Easter Eggs Gone Glam

Cute handmade sock bunnies...cute idea to put in Easter basket!

It’s almost here! Grab those Easter baskets and get ready to hunt for eggs…and hopefully some candy, too.

Wait…you haven’t dyed your eggs yet?  No worries, you still have a few days left to get those babies dressed and ready for the yard.  (Or the living room, depending on this cray cray spring weather.)  If you’re thinking of being a bit more dramatic and forgoing the traditional dyed eggs, glitter eggs may be just what the bunny ordered. Posted by    |    April 5th, 2012 at 7:00 am

One week from today, you have the opportunity to party with Estee Lauder and Vogue magazine at Neiman Marcus Northpark Center as they celebrate the launch of Assouline Publishing’s new book American Beauty. According to the publisher, this book is a keeper for the ages. “Photographed by Vogue alumna Claiborne Swanson Frank, American Beauty features over 100 portraits of quintessentially American women such as Lily Aldridge, Solange Knowles, and Jenna Lyons—each of whom possesses an original blend of grit, grace, glamour, and gravitas that echo far beyond the pages of this oversize hardcover.”

Wow. Sounds inspiring and a little bit intimidating, no? Meet the book’s photographer, Claiborne Swanson Frank, and receive a signed copy with your Estee Lauder purchase of $150 or more. Let’s face it, you need new colors for the season and a signed copy of this fab book is enough incentive to go for it.

Oh, and this isn’t your typical book party, my dears.  Estee Lauder Global Makeup Stylist Rick DiCecca and his team will be on-hand to give glam makeovers for spring. Pros sculpting your face with their artistry is never a bad decision. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call 214.363.8311 ext 2138.

Easter Surprise: Bunny Butt Cake

Posted by    |    April 4th, 2012 at 7:00 am

With Easter just a few short days away, it’s time to get to the nitty-gritty of what to make for Easter treats.  When I saw Betty Crocker’s “Bunny Butt Cake”, I almost fell out of my chair.  It’s hilarious, holiday-appropriate, and easy to make!

After reading this comment by someone who tried it, I decided this was the year to make this my family tradition as well.

“When I was a child, my mother always made a bunny cake for Easter (though never from this perspective) and I have continued this legacy for my kids and grandkids. This year I intend to make the Bunny Butt cake but, being from northern Texas, I think I’ll use coarsely ground ginger snaps to simulate our clay soil under the green “grass” instead of chocolate cookies. And to further explain what the bunny is doing, I’m going to build up the area around the edges of the “rabbit hole” with extra “dirt”. I’m certain that my family will LOVE it!! Thanks Betty Crocker!”

Delicate Jewelry Celebs Love: Where You Can Find it For Less

Posted by    |    April 3rd, 2012 at 7:00 am

Some of my favorite celebs have impeccable jewelry taste.  Well, okay, their stylists probably have the great taste, but it still looks smashing on them.  Though I love some big baubles, there’s something so sweet, special, and downright sexy about delicate jewelry.  You can layer necklaces and bracelets and it isn’t overkill, you can stack rings and it doesn’t come across as showy.  Delicate jewelry is typically timeless, trend-less, and goes with practically anything you own. Here are a few celeb pics demonstrating how this jewelry style is the bees knees…
