How to Wear Mint Green

Posted by    |    April 30th, 2012 at 10:49 am

Minty fresh fashion is everywhere these days.  From clothing and accessories to walls in our homes, mint is having a stint as the hot color for spring and summer.  Universally flattering on most skin tones and plays well with most colors in the box….what’s not to love?

Here are a few ideas to make you fresh to death with this cool color:

1. Pair it with navy. Navy can appear too nautical with other color combos, so mint green tones down the military sea scavenger look and makes it all class, all day.

Posted by    |    April 24th, 2012 at 7:00 am

Katy Perry on April 18, 2012 in Hollywood, California. Katy Perry's pink and blue hair

Whether you like her music or not, “Fireworks” pop star Katy Perry has more than just a hot voice; she’s got the hair to match.  Pop stars through the years have traditionally been hair chameleons, from Madonna to Beyonce to Nicky Minaj.  Katy Perry really seems to enjoy changing her hair color as often as she changes boyfriends and cupcake bras.  So what’s with the crazy colors?  Oh sure, if you were in a punk band we’d all totally understand.  But bubble-gum pop music?  Next thing you know, Bieber is going to be sporting full-sleeve tattoos and marrying Pam Anderson underneath a neon Budweiser sign. How to Decorate a Book Shelf

Posted by    |    April 23rd, 2012 at 12:57 pm

From the library of Congress to your living room, the look of books is something that instantly creates comfort and style.  If you’re lucky enough to have some roomy bookshelves to experiment with, then this blog is for you.  Unless you’re a decorista with an eye for this kind of thing, it can be a bit tricky getting just the right arrangement.  Luckily, the fabulous pinners on Pinterest and styling tips from yours truly will get your book shelves looking magazine spread worthy in no time.

1.  Space.  Leave some of it!  Not all bookshelves need to be crammed wall to wall with books.  Sometimes leaving a little blank space gives a viewer the ability to take in the beauty of what is there and focus on each piece.  A few well-placed books and meaningful knick knacks or picture frames with family photos can be all it takes to give this space just what it needs.  The arrangement above is a perfect example of how to make free space work for you and not feel empty. Must Love Horses (And Fashion!)

Posted by    |    April 13th, 2012 at 11:29 am

The soothing vibes that come from a horse are inexplicable.  They have such calm, gentle, friendly eyes, and when they gaze at you, you’re keenly aware of the peace and compassion they exude.  Who knew that this wonderful feeling when paired with great fashion could be so empowering to others?  ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship and Newman Village, Frisco’s premier master-planned community, are inviting the North Texas community to ManeGait’s 2nd Annual Filly Fashion show and luncheon on Thursday, April 26 at The Westin Stonebriar Hotel in Frisco, Texas, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Beginning in 2008 with four riders, ManeGait’s mission – to help children and adults with a wide range of physical, mental and emotional disabilities move beyond their boundaries through the healing power of the horse and the dedication of a professional, caring community, has increased the number of riders who have benefitted from the equine therapy to 117 individuals in 2011. American Pie: Fashion Then and Now

Posted by    |    April 12th, 2012 at 7:00 am

American Pie: Reunion is being so heavily promoted that you probably have already heard a dozen interviews with the “stars” of the film.  Though it’s been a little over ten years and most of the cast hasn’t gone on to do too many noteworthy projects, it’s a safe bet that this film will continue to rake in numbers on shock value alone.  (Word on the street is you see more of Jason Biggs than you probably ever wanted to. Ever.) All that being said, what I find most interesting about the resurgence of this cast is how style has changed in ten years.  Check out photos of the group from the original premiere of American Pie in 1999  and what they look like today:
