Where to Buy ALL the Summer Essentials

Posted by    |    May 14th, 2012 at 10:50 am

It has been a few years since I’ve gotten a swimsuit that I wouldn’t be ashamed to wear in public….meaning, the others I own are either very outdated or just plain ugly.  But let’s face it; trying on a new swimsuit is akin to shopping for a new car or going to the dentist for most of us.  It’s exhausting trying to find just the right fit, embarrassing if you don’t know what you’re doing, and hunting down the right accessories to go with it at various stores just seems like a waste of time.  BUT-when armed with the motivation of a fabulous cruise, a sexy summer vacation, or long, lazy days at the pool, I think I can brave almost anything to find a suit that will stand out and flatter my figure.

Here is where Everything But Water comes in.  They literally have everything but water.  You need a suit?  No problem! They have the most colorful and luxurious array I have ever seen in my life.  Cover ups that double as a cute top or dress for a night out?  Check.  Bracelets, shoes, handbags, hats, sunglasses, lip balm, and more?  Oh, yes, they have that, too! Denim Trends You Haven’t Tried: 7 for All Mankind

Posted by    |    May 9th, 2012 at 1:51 pm

Denim-it’s in all of our closets, and if someone was peeking into yours, I bet they’d see a short row of different shades of blue, black, or white jeans of varying cuts and styles.  Let’s be real-jeans have become an acceptable uniform for many workplaces, schools, and even church.  So why aren’t there more options to dress up the classics?

7 for All Mankind has always been a brand that exudes relaxed, Southern California style, so it isn’t much of a surprise that they have been taking the lead when it comes to denim trends and making them accessible for everyone from James Franco to your mother.  (Speaking of James Franco, have you seen 7′s spring campaign, “Episodes of an Untitled Film” with James Franco directing a series of short films? Very sexy.)

According to Liat Mazor, the Marketing Manager for 7, ” The new spring line is inspired by a California vibe, a forever cool idea inspired by the glistening sun and the ocean. You’ll see a lot of shimmer, pastels, and brights. “  Glittery, shimmery jeans aren’t a new thing, but the way 7 for All Mankind does them is. Read the rest of this entry »

This One is For the Guys: Beard Chat

Posted by    |    May 8th, 2012 at 10:52 am

Guys, it’s pretty tough to write a “beauty” article for you, because it comes off sounding too “frou frou”.  I’ll try to be as masculine as I can, since there are probably four of you reading this and I don’t want to lose what little male readership I have. So, today’s beauty lesson, if you will, is going to be about the importance of a good razor.  Even if you’re sporting the dirty hippie beard or devil-may-care mutton chops, you still have to keep that thing in order at some point.  A good razor is never a bad idea.  I think many of you continue to use the same razor for too long, leaving it dull and preventing you from a smooth shave.

So, today’s take home advice is this: invest in a good razor that allows you to switch the blades out as often as you need to.  Don’t walk around with a permanent five o’clock shadow.  Give your face (and the people who have to make out with it,) a break.  Trim it up and moisturize your face with pleasant smelling products, like Jack Black or Billy Jealousy.  Yes, it’s an investment, but you’ll smell divine, have baby soft skin, and look younger longer.

In case you need ideas about how to groom said beard or facial hair into a sexy style, here are some reference photos:

And if you keep forgetting to buy a new razor, I think this video can give you some hilarious help.

The Perfect Ballerina Bun: How To DIY

Posted by    |    May 3rd, 2012 at 7:00 am

Ballerina buns are so pretty and chic, but they always looks like a whipping to master yourself.  Long-haired chicks like me often get lazy when it comes to up-dos and simply wear it in the same style over and over out of habit.  Lazy hair lasses, fret no more!  I have the key to perfect ballerina buns (for your head, that is,) that will work for your wedding day, your work-out, or just for those hot summer nights.

This tutorial is about six minutes long, but it’s worth watching to master the sock bun secret to a gorgeous bun.  Check out variations on this look here. Give it a few tries to get the technique just right!
