Bob Stoops weighs in, supports Mike Gundy in Wes Lunt Transferpalooza…

Posted by    |    June 6th, 2013 at 1:05 pm

…and confirms he’s pretty much also a dick.

From the WWL.

“I support every coach and I support Mike Gundy in every way if they have their issues because all situations are different. I mean that sincerely. Mike’s doing the right thing in his case,” Stoops said at an Oklahoma caravan event on Wednesday night. “A guy says, ‘I’m coming to you’ and you get a running back, and then all of a sudden you don’t have a running back. He leaves. That doesn’t leave your program in a great spot, right? So, I’m totally in agreement.”

That’s some Socratic Method type stuff right there.

“It isn’t right that they can just do what they want to do,” Stoops said. “It isn’t good. I don’t believe in it.”

Um…

Why don’t we have the coach sign up to coach the player for as long as the player is there? Don’t give me any of that a player signs with a school not a coach bullshit, Bob.

Big 12 distributes 198 million to conference members

According to the Austin-American Statesman. That’s 22 million each to the eight core members and 11 million to TCU and West Virginia, who gain full financial equivalence in 2013.

The bulk of that revenue comes from bowl games, television revenue, and the NCAA basketball tournament.

Bowlsby added that he expected the league to disperse more than $30 million per school soon and said, by the end of the 13-year television deal with ABC, ESPN and Fox, which began last year, the members will received about $40 million “if not just shy of that.”

Not shabby.

Tell me again why the Big 12 doesn’t want the Louisville Cardinals?

The Louisville Cardinals won the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament last night. The Cardinals are in their last season as a Big East member, and will head to the ACC presently. It’s an open secret that Louisville strongly campaigned for a Big 12 invite, and were told “thanks, but no thanks…for now.” OK, then.

The last Big 12 school not named the Kansas Jayhawks to make the Final Four? The West Virginia Mountaineers in 2010. Wait, what do you mean the Mountaineers weren’t in the Big 12 at that point? Oh. Right. I guess it’s the Oklahoma St. Cowboys, in 2004. Never mind that Louisville has been the Final Four three times since then (2005, 2012, 2013).

2013 NCAA Tournament Discussion & Preview: Picking the Final Four

What follows is comprehensive discussion on the NCAA Tournament between two of Barking Carnival’s finest. Click here for the full series.

JC25: First, let’s revisit my preseason Final Four picks. I was terribly wrong on personal favorite Kentucky, but both Louisville and Ohio St. are strong contenders in their respective brackets. Spoiler alert: I’m abdicating my preseason champions pick, Michigan St.

I hate to do it, but I’ll take Louisville in the Midwest. The Cardinals are the favorites of both the talking heads and statgeeks, and that’s just enough for me to pick them over the Spartans, my perennial Final Four pick. In the West, I guess I’m not a Gonzaga believer, because I have them falling to Pittsburgh in the Round of 32. That leads to a fourth game between Ohio St. and Wisconsin, with the Buckeyes taking the season series. Ohio St. is good, but Louisville is better. Give me the Cardinals.
