Tiger Woods spent his weekend coasting to a win in the WGC-Cadillac Championship, his 17th in the elite WGC series.

Meanwhile former Longhorn Jordan Spieth turned in a pretty good weekend of work a well on the PGA Tour. The 19-year old got a sponsor’s exemption into the Puerto Rico Open, and on Saturday, he recorded his first hole-in-one as a touring pro.

Then on Sunday Spieth fired his fourth straight round in the 60′s (67) to to finish in a tie for 2nd in the official tour event.

Spieth had rounds of 69-66-67-67 for a 269 total and a check for $308,000. Jordan is a member of the web.com tour, but can take up to 7 sponsor’s exemptions on the PGA tour. Spieth won $65,000 at the AT&T Celebrity Pro-AM, which means he has already won $373,000 in 2013. The Top 125 money winners for the year get a full exemption for the next season, and Spieth looks to be more than halfway to the earnings he will need to get his PGA card.

Golf Boys

First there were sports; such competitive and grueling activities. Then there was the overwhelming popularity of boy bands such as ‘NSYNC and Backstreet Boys.  Finally, man has combined these two beautiful entities, resulting in Golf Boys, the PGA’s first golf-related boy band. Talented athletes and goofballs extraordinaire, Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler, Hunter Mahan and recent winner of the 2012 Masters, Bubba Watson, are sweeping the webosphere with their silly antics.

For every 100,000 views of the above view, Farmers Insurance will donate $1,000 to support the charitable initiatives of Farmers and Ben Crane. That’s lovely and all, but can we talk about the fact that Bubba is wearing overalls? Who’s idea was that?

Those of us in Dallas that have lost his or her cool after a particularly bad shot will relate to Tiger Woods, who lost his cool on the 16th hole after a poorly executed shot to the right of the green side bunker.

Nick Faldo said of Woods, “I think we can officially say Tiger has lost his game . . . and his mind.”

So you’ve heard of Groupon. You know what it is, and you’ve probably used it before. You know that when you wake up to your blackberry every morning, between the 22 emails from your boss and your weekly bank statement, it’s the first email you get excited about (no one ever jumped for joy over Excel spread sheets).

Yesterday, a Golf-inspired form of a Groupon-esque website released to the North Texas market. The site is iDealGolfer.com, and their product is sure to get your 9 iron and putter in a Par 4 tizzy. With 50%-90% discounts off rounds of golf on your favorite courses, it’s enough to put your caddy on speed dial. (more…)
