Southampton travel to Tottenham on Sunday, gunning for their third straight league win.

Southampton have blown hot and cold since new manager Claude Puel arrived in the summer, though two straight league wins have given the Saints cause for cautious optimism. They’ll be looking to make it three in a row for the first time since May when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur’s White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Spurs have wobbled over the past couple of months, though Mauricio Pochettino’s side have also won two league games on the bounce. They still find themselves up in second place as we hurtle toward the business end of the season — though with competition for the Champions League places so tight, they can’t afford to let up any time soon.

Three big things to know

1. Spurs will be without two first-team regulars in Danny Rose and Harry Kane, the latter looking set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury. Erik Lamela is also on the treatment table, while Victor Wanyama and Kyle Walker both face late fitness tests.

2. Southampton are in an even unhealthier position at present: Alex McCarthy, Virgil van Dijk, Jérémy Pied, Matt Targett, and Charlie Austin are all currently out with injuries.

3. Southampton will be hoping striker Manolo Gabbiadini maintains his incredible run of form, with the Italian having found the net six times in four appearances since joining from Napoli in January. He’s already looking like one of the signings of the season.
