March Madness bracket update: Baylor bounces USC, heads to Sweet 16

The Bears are dancing in the second weekend.

Baylor bounces USC from the NCAA tournament, winning, 80-76, and heading to the school’s fourth Sweet 16 in history.

USC came agonizingly close to getting a chance to tie this game up late in the proceedings, but USC’s Chimezie Metu blocked a shot on the backboard and the shot ended up counting because it was on the backboard and above the rim.

The Trojans continued a streak of First Four teams advancing past one opponent in the big dance, but Baylor proved too strong in the end for Andy Enfield’s team. This is undoubtedly progress for the Trojans outfit that is looking to put together some postseason consistency.

For Baylor, this gets the monkey off their back that was 2016 and 2015 where they failed to make it out of the first weekend as a No. 5 seed and a No. 3 seed respectively. BU took care of business, and they’re still dancing.
