Kansas St. Wildcats 83, Texas Longhorns 57: Post-Mortem

Posted by    |    January 31st, 2013 at 8:02 am

The Texas Longhorns brought a wiffle ball bat to an Anchorman fight. Meanwhile, the Kansas St. Wildcats came out swinging a machete and quite possibly killed a guy with a trident. The Wildcats imposed their will early, and if they weren’t such horrendous shooters, Texas could’ve found itself down twice what it was at halftime. Even still, the 38-19 margin at the half looked like something out of the catalogue of Mack Brown’s greatest losses to his Purple Overlords.

Frank Martin may have fled Manhattan, but his physical brand of basketball remains. This heady Kansas St. team outmuscled and outhustled Texas in the first half. It didn’t matter that neither team could shoot; one team could score, and it wasn’t Texas.

2013 RB Dontre’ Wilson will officially visit the Texas Longhorns

Posted by    |    January 30th, 2013 at 8:30 am

The Texas Longhorns got some good news last night when it was confirmed that 2013 running back Dontre’ Wilson from DeSoto will take an official visit to Austin this weekend ($). Wilson, who holds a Texas offer, has been committed to the Oregon Ducks since May. Though he remains committed, he reopened his recruitment after head coach Chip Kelly left to take a job in the NFL.

Just prior to the news of his Texas visit, reports stated that Wilson was “50-50” between Oregon and the Ohio St. Buckeyes. Urban Meyer and the OSU coaching staff have been recruiting Wilson aggressively in hopes of flipping the top 100 back. Wilson had also tentatively scheduled a visit to the Oklahoma St. Cowboys this weekend, previously considered the third school on his list.
