Jordan Hicks, Brandon Moore, Anthony Fera Out at Oklahoma State

Anthony Fera was expected. Jordan Hicks is not a surprise. But Brandon Moore comes from left field. Which is kind of what viruses do.

Depth at Defensive Tackle is a team strength, but given OSU’s pace, we should see more of freshman Malcom Brown.

Also curious to see how we deal with Hicks’ absence. I’m hearing everything from Dalton Santos and Steve Edmond in a 4-2-5 to Kenny Vaccaro playing de facto SLB. And we can help our placekicker by winning the game by 14.

Nut up, Longhorns.

Federal Agents Mad ‘Cause I’m Flagrant: Seventh BCS Bowl, BlogPoll Ballot, Parlay Picks and Classic Music Video of the Week

To take our minds off of NFL replacement refs (and even as a Bears fan that loathes the Packers with every fiber of my being, I can’t take joy in such an abominable outcome from Monday night’s game), let’s move onto some other news:

(1) Seventh BCS Bowl: Progress for the Little Guys or More Consolidation of Power for the Big Guys? – The powers that be of college football are reportedly going to add a seventh bowl to the top tier of games (widely presumed to consist of the Rose, Cotton, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta and Chick-Fil-A Bowls) that will be a part of the new playoff rotation and host the highest ranked champion of the “non-contract” conferences (the Big East, Conference USA, Mountain West, Sun Belt and MAC). Dennis Dodd of CBSSports.com is reporting that industry sources believe that this new seventh bowl will make approximately $20 million per year in TV money. For the sake of comparison, the Rose Bowl will be receiving $80 million per year and the Please Choose a Freaking Site Already So I Can Stop Calling This the Champions Bowl will likely receive the same.

Soft Shocks to the Rebel Flock

Posted by    |    September 28th, 2012 at 5:30 am

Dear, Dear Alpaca. It has been an arduous journey fraught with arid hills and frightening storms. I have gathered you here after so much hardship and wanting and doubt so that you might be quieted and comforted. Here, in this beautiful Grove, I will share with you the breadth of the vision that I have spoken of so often. I have given you only glimpses until now because, Soft Alpaca, it was all our haggard flock could bare. But we grow stronger, Alpaquito. Oh and we hunger, Alpaqueños. For green grass, yet untouched by the passing of others.

Worry not, my Alpacan Prince, open fields now await us and our fleeces will be full one day soon. But never forget the hunger lest you take your fertile fields for granted. Now be still harried one, and bare witness.
