Spotlight on Jordan Spieth

Jordan Spieth, Joe Haggar

Jordan Spieth may have a killer swing, and looks that could rival Justin Bieber, but he’s very much a normal seventeen year-old looking forward to his freshmen year of college for academics, golf, and oh yeah – a normal social life. UT’s next big thing is a very well spoken individual; the epitome of well raised. Fresh off the green from this year’s Byron Nelson, You+Dallas caught up with Spieth to find out about what’s in store for him. (more…)

The 49-year wait

Baseball betrayed me. I was a typical teen who didn’t care about players and owners bickering over salary renegotiations and free-agency terms. I was a 14 year-old who had collected baseball cards since I was old enough to demand an allowance. All I cared about was watching my heroes: The Rangers. The countdown to the Evening Under the Star party continues as Friday quickly approaches. Internationally recognized St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is all about patients receiving proper treatment, whether or not their families can afford it. No patient is ever turned away. Financially supported by ALSAC, Memphis-based St. Jude is the #1 pediatric cancer center in the nation, and all ticket proceeds from the Evening Under the Star party go to St. Jude. (more…)

With the NBA getting kicked off this week, I wanted to draw your attention to Get Buckets, an NBA hoops focused blog written by some really knowledgeable and passionate NBA guys. Yes, they have been instructed to keep us all up to date on what is going on with Kevin Durant but will also be following the varied story lines of David Stern’s Wild Ride. – S.R.

The best player on the defending champions is usually seen as the best player in basketball – from Bird and Magic in the 80’s to Jordan in the 90’s, with Hakeem sneaking in for a brief stretch during Jordan’s baseball hiatus. (more…)
