TOP Restaurants in the Big D according to me!

I have to admit that it’s a good life when you know what you like to eat and where to find it. Being a self-proclaimed Foodie, people always ask where do you like to eat? The answer is simple based on what you crave. I believe I have found the best of the best in Dallas. (Still looking for a local place to satisfy my Spicy Lobster Bucatini craving from West Palm Beach) What started out as a top 5 list soon became 7 and is increasing exponentially as I write. It’s hard to pick just a handful since we have many great restaurants. Here is what I believe to be some yummy dining options. (more…)

Oddfellows Opens in Oak Cliff

Posted by    |    December 10th, 2010 at 4:58 am

Dallas coffee culture received a shot in the arm yesterday with the opening of Oddfellows, located at 316 W. 7th Street in Oak Cliff.  I had the pleasure of joining one of the Oddfellows’ partners, Jason Roberts, on opening day for a cup of coffee.  I had a traditional cappuccino prepared by none other than Mike McKim, owner of Cuvee Coffee. We note three reasons why coffee lovers should visit Oddfellows.

First, Oddfellows will serve Cuvee coffee, a high quality coffee created by Austin-based Cuvee Coffee Roasting Company.  We like Cuvee coffee and have alot of respect for its owner Mike McKim who purchases the best coffee beans from select farmers located around the world.  (more…)

Lucia is Coming!

Lucia Kitchen

I had the privilege of attending a soft opening/practice dinner for Lucia, the new Italian neighborhood restaurant being opened by David and Jennifer Uygur this past Saturday. Word on the street (and from the Uygurs) is that the formal opening will be soon. Let me tell you-it can’t come soon enough! Bishop Arts (where Lucia is opening at 408 W. 8th Street next to Dude, Sweet Chocolate) and all of Dallas are in for a huge treat. This place is phenomenal!

It is the classic neighborhood Italian restaurant that Dallas so desperately needs more of IMHO with top quality food and wine served impeccably in an intimate local setting. With Lucia, it starts with the gracious Jennifer bringing her hosting and wine selection skills to the front of the house. (more…)

Thursday just wants to have fun

Posted by    |    December 3rd, 2010 at 12:57 pm

Don’t let the weekend be the only time you reserve for fun (cleaning our your inbox does not count). Thursday is the “College Friday”, and this rule is applicable to you even after you’ve received a large piece of paper certifying that you passed your classes and shook the University President’s hand while your parents took (too many) pictures.

Ristorante Nicola in Preston Center is hosting “Martinis & Manicures” Thursday evenings in November and December. Belle Spa on Oak Lawn provides the paint for your darling digits, and Ristorante Nicola serves up $7 martinis, glasses of wine, and cosmopolitans. Because every martini looks that much more polished when it’s being held by beautifully manicured nails.

Visit Ristorante Nicola for Martinis & Manicures on December 9 and December 16 from 6pm-9pm
