Trey Hill of Mercy Street Ministry gave a sermon at Highland Park Presbyterian Church last Sunday entitled, “Love the City”. The sermon essentially addressed biblical teachings about how we should use our time and money to care for those who have little or nothing in life.
Hill, a Park Cities product, speaks with authority when he makes his case. He has devoted himself to Mercy Street Ministry, whose mission is to educate, equip, and empower a new generation of leaders by engaging in Christ-honoring, mentoring of children in West Dallas. Mercy Street is not for the casual volunteer. Mentors are asked to mentor children from the fourth grade on through high school graduation.
This is a particularly important message in the current economic environment. Giving is down at the very time the need for help is exploding. We give high marks to Trey for his commitment to Christ and to helping with the transformation of West Dallas.
