After breaking yet another daily heat record in North Texas, Mother Nature decided to smile upon us and give us an impressive display Thursday night. A nice line of thunderstorms marched across North Texas, complete with a most impressive light show. With Texas suffering from one of the hottest summers on record, and severe drought conditions, any relief was welcomed.
Unfortunately we didn’t get as much rain as we needed, generally only about 1/2 inch. Several area lakes are still several feet below full levels, and most areas are under water conservation rules and burn bans. But the cold front did bring some relief to the high temperatures we’ve been having all summer. We’ll be enjoying temperatures about 10-15 degrees lower than we’ve had for a while, just in time for the State Fair of Texas.
It was nice to know that Mother Nature hasn’t completely forgotten about us.
