As a multiple home owner in the past, I have been very biased on purchasing a home over a townhome. Until yesterday.
I visited a Plano townhome community that definitely opened my eyes. Located near Park and the Tollroad, I had seen the signs many times driving by close to Prestonwood church. My thought was to give the community a chance and see if there were any opportunities for an investor to possibly contract on a model lease back from the builder.
To my surprise as I walked in, the model homes had a tremendous finish out with granite countertops and hand scraped hardwood floors. Features I definitely would not expect to see in a townhome. All exterior maintenance was included in the HOA fees which were minimal in comparison to other townhome communities I have visited in the past. The amenity center was resort like, with an actual lap pool overlooking a beautiful pond and fountain.
The salesperson mentioned that the majority of buyers were downsizing from Plano and Castle Hills. There was a total of 27 sold since the beginning of January and they had another 24 that were permitted by the city and starting.
Before signing a new lease go take a look at the townhomes in Plano, you might just change your mind.
