Last week, I hung out with the crew at You+Dallas at the FC Dallas v. Real Salt Lake City game while they shot footage for the Futbol Fever video and another project. My partners in crime during this shoot were Aaron Gentry, DP; Dan Baumgartner, 2nd Camera; and Bubba Willis, 3rd Camera.

We showed up to Pizza Hut Park in Frisco a couple hours early to get the cameras set up and get direction from Aaron.

One group of rabid fans were braving the punishment of the direct sunlight. Thankfully, Aaron found a larger group of fans who were tailgating under the protection of the shade in Pink Park so we packed up and headed that direction. Here’s the report:

The Texas Pool – A Hidden Oasis

Posted by    |    July 13th, 2010 at 1:25 pm

One of the hidden treasures in Plano is The Texas Pool.  Tucked in a quiet neighborhood just west of Collin Creek Mall, it’s a perfect place to take the family for a nice day at the pool.  Built in the shape of the great State of Texas, this pool has been a landmark in Plano for 50 years.

The pool features a snack bar, water slides, grills, a picnic area, water and sand volleyball, and life guards on duty.  You can go wading with your little ones in Brownsville, practice your dives near Amarillo, or hang out on Abilene Island.  As a private swim club, a membership is required, but it’s definitely worth it.  Guest passes are also available.  It’s also a great place to host a birthday party for your kids.  What better way to take the edge off that cake-ice cream sugar rush than a day of swimming?

Besides just for swimming, they also have other family activities and swim classes throughout the summer.  One popular event is the “Dive In Movie Night”.  The next one is July 17th at 9:00pm.  In keeping with the aquatic theme of the Texas Pool, they will be showing “Shark Tales”.  All served up with Root Beer floats.  Yum…

So dive in, the water’s fine!
