Washington Post Seersucker Ride

If you know the annual Lawn Party on Governor’s Island in New York City, you have an inkling of what this will be like. The Singapore Slingers will be performing, and Elaine Hewlett from the Rhythm Room will be teaching us some swingin moves from the 1920s. We’ll check out the Model A Fords, play some yard games, and eat some Carnival Barker’s ice cream.

We’ll be riding from Klyde Warren Park, meeting at 11:30am and heading to Heritage Village at 12 noon. Bring $10, and be ready for the most relaxing and exciting Sunday afternoon you can remember.

There’s a costume contest at 2:30pm – lots of great inspiration on the Sunday Social pinterest, and lots of great links to local shops on the event’s facebook page. You could even wear your great outfit again to the Seer Sucker Picnic Ride next month!

New Conservation Ordinance

Posted by    |    March 5th, 2014 at 9:12 pm

As many of you already know, the process to become a conservation district is undergoing reconstruction.
More & more neighborhoods are looking into the protection a conservation designation can provide.  The
process has always been a difficult and often times confusing one, with many neighborhoods waiting a long
time to hear anything back.  Hopefully some of these issues will be resolved, but it will still require due diligence
on our part for it to reach a successful conclusion.

Preservation Dallas has been holding meetings to discuss the potential changes to the Conservation District
ordinance as proposed by City of Dallas staff and the Zoning Ordinance Committee. The meetings presented
opportunities for them to collect feedback from the different Conservation Districts on the proposed ordinance.

The Zoning Ordinance Committee were to review the final draft of the Conservation District ordinance on Thursday,
March 6th in City Hall conference room.
