First Impression: Oddfellows Dinner

We received this great report on last night’s dinner at Oddfellows and thought our readers would appreciate the insight. Thanks to Elmwood resident Kevin Johns for sharing this first impression.

Last night Oddfellows held a Go Oak Cliff fundraiser with a limited preview of their new dinner menu and, if this sneak peek is any indication,  Bishop Arts has just added another must try dinner venue.

For $25, patrons were given the option of either a fried chicken dinner server family style or a vegetarian option for those that don’t eat meat.  The chicken dinner included mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, spinach and a biscuit.  The fried chicken had a great spicy crunch and was very juicy.  The biscuit was flaky with a pleasant honey flavor.

The potatoes and the mac and cheese were both very good, and at other restaurants could be the star, but the show stopper on this plate was the spinach.  It was wonderfully creamy with a secret ingredient that our table was sworn to secrecy before we could be told what it was.   For dessert we were served a blueberry cobbler that had a perfect balance of sweet and tart which we enjoyed with a cup of Oddfellows’ already talked about cup of coffee.

Overall, it was a wonderful introduction to Oddfellows new dinner menu and, speaking of the menu, we got a good look at it last night.  It may not be as expansive as the breakfast/brunch/lunch menu but I think everyone will be able to find something to enjoy.

Oddfellows will be serving dinner every night but Mondays starting Wednesday, 3/30.
