Single this Valentines Day? Sitting at home eating a box of chocolates you bought yourself, watching lame romantic comedies? Well stop it. Come out to Frankie’s Sports Bar instead and tell Valentines day to kiss off with other like minded individuals. What makes this Anti-Valentines day party so good for your spirit is the giant shredder that will be located outside Frankie’s where you can put any remains of a dying or dead love affair such as an exes picture, a break up letter or that stuffed bunny from last year’s Valentines, through the blades for a nice cathartic release. Plus Every everyone who puts something through the shredder get’s a free drink (one per guest, up to a $6.50 value).
How cool is that, a free drink in exchange for some healthy emotional purging. To top it all off it’ll be happy hour prices all night with bar tenders mixing up 4$ drinks with names like Love Stinks, Stupid Cupid, Bitter End, and Arrow Thru my Heart. The party started at 11am but it’s going until 2am , so collect those pictures, letters or whatever other items that symbolize your relationship baggage that might be lying around, and drink some drinks to Valentines day being lame.

It’s one of the most anticipated nights of the year. If you’re looking for something in between the aggressiveness of Lights All Night and a warmed up cup of Ramen Noodles, this is how you’re ringing in 2013.

You’ve got some options…
The Nodding Donkey
Ditch the candy corn and head to The Nodding Donkey in your most creative duds for a Halloween party complete with costume contest. Fishr Pryce will DJ your drink special-filled evening in one of the best bars in Uptown.
Cru Wine Bar
Here’s another excuse to bring out that cat costume for the 10th year in a row. Wear all black and receive %50 off of Cru Wine Bar’s new fall menu. They even brought out some especially spooky named wines like “The Velvet Devil”, “Poizon” Armida and Poggio Anima Asmodeus. If it’s in a wine glass, I’ll drink it.
The Londoner
If you get bored at The Nodding Donkey, just walk a few steps to The Londener for a live DJ, $3 Jameson and a costume party starting at 10 p.m. sharp.
If you prefer bottle service over a bar crawl, House of Horror at Avenu featuring DJ Scooter is for you. The party starts at 10 p.m. with a $10 cover charge for VIP.
The Old Monk
The Old Monk’s annual pumpkin carving contest is back in action. For $10 you get a pumpkin, a carving kit and a free pint of Guinness, Smithwicks or Black & Tan. The Old Monk will match that $10 and send the proceeds to the North Texas Food Bank.
Let your creative juices flow because they’re going on Facebook. The Old Monk will post the picture of your pumpkin on their page where you and your friends can vote for the best. First place gets $75, second gets $50 and third gets $25.

On Saturday, November 10, trade in the ball gown or tux you normally reserve for swanky occasions for leather jackets, designer jeans and skullcap rings at the second annual Bad to the Bone event benefitting Operation Kindness and the Texas Humane Legislative Network. Most animal lovers take the opportunity to show off their four-legged friend any chance they get. Celebrate your friend and all four-legged friends in need while donning your best attempt at biker chic at the beautiful home turned upscale ‘biker bar’ of Scott and Kelly Hershman, 14918 Lake Forest Drive in Dallas.

In honor of our second consecutive Dallas Observer ‘Best Dallas Website’ win last week, YouPlusDallas took to the roof of the new NYLO Dallas South Side to celebrate. While the NYLO rooftop and SODA Bar are the epitome of cool, there are always improvements that can be made. Our sales extraordinaire, Benton was challenged to come up with and share three things that would make the rooftop even cooler. Gesture accompaniment by Samantha.
