With the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) coming to Dallas this week before they gear up for their flagship event, it seems only fitting to provide an update. Last month we discussed the EDC’s exodus from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to the 1,000 acre Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
- The massive 3-day festival (June 24-26) is expected to break prior attendance records, as somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 people are expected to attend each day. So this is sounding like a giant rave? Not according to Insomniac’s founder, Pasquale Rotella, who likens EDC to “the electronic version of Coachella and Lollapalooza.” With less than two weeks until the festival kicks off, the line up for 5 different stages is now available
- Unlike other festivals of this nature however, there will be a major VIP element. Specifically, competing Vegas juggernauts XS/Tryst and Marquee will actually be teaming up to orchestrate the VIP experience, i.e. table/cabana service. And word is these groups, which have helped to mainstream the house and electronic music scene in Vegas, will be extending the weekend with major pre- and post-festival parties at their respective venues. XS and Tryst’s co-owner Jesse Waits sums it up by stating that their goal “is to give our nightclub experience to Pasquale’s event as much as we can” and with the pre- and post-parties this will create something on par, if not bigger than, Miami’s Ultra/Winter Music Conference.
