Until recently, when I thought of sectionals, I imagined big, bulky furniture pieces that rarely actually fit in the rooms people put them in. I’d have never considered putting one in my own home. But after doing a bit of sofa shopping, I’ve caught the sectional bug and have totally changed my tune. These days sectionals come in many shapes, sizes and styles, making it easy to find a sexy sofa well suited for your space!
When looking for a new couch, my top priorities are size, comfort and design. Of course, a couch that fits well into my living room is the top priority. The next two are a bit more difficult. I hate to sacrifice design for comfort and vice versa. Turns out, there are many options in the Design District that offer both!
My current couch is pretty traditional and so I surprised myself when I began falling for more modern options. Here’s a round up of some of the more contemporary couches I’ve been ogling lately:
Thayer Coggin Minnie Sectional available at McGannon Showrooms
I love the how Thayer Coggin’s Minnie sectional balances clean, modern lines with thick, comfy cushions. For me, comfort is just as important as design!

Mezzo Sectional shown in Dary Grey Costa Fabric available at BoConcept
BoConcept has a great selection of contemporary sofas but I am particularly drawn to the Mezzo. Though the cushion looks thin, it is surprisingly very comfortable. My favorite feature of this sectional is the “comfort cushions” on the back which adjust to allow for lounging or sitting up.

Sunday Sectional from the Barbara Barry Collection available at Baker
There’s something about the non-traditional base of Barbara Barry’s Sunday Sectional that really intrigues me.

Cassina Mister by Philipe Starvk available at Scott+Cooner
I like the idea of having an extra-wide couch arm that serves as an end table like the one in the Cassina Mister sectional from Scott+Cooner.
So what do you think of these picks? Or sectionals in general? Have you see any more sectionals around LOL that you like? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

I have a love for sectionals…especially in media rooms. They are more comfy than theater chairs and have such a sleek look to them. They are a piece that not only looks good, but you can actually relax in.
