Four Sexy Sectionals from the Dallas Design District

Posted by    |    May 28th, 2011 at 5:50 am

Until recently, when I thought of sectionals, I imagined big, bulky furniture pieces that rarely actually fit in the rooms people put them in. I’d have never considered putting one in my own home. But after doing a bit of sofa shopping, I’ve caught the sectional bug and have totally changed my tune. These days sectionals come in many shapes, sizes and styles, making it easy to find a sexy sofa well suited for your space!

When looking for a new couch, my top priorities are size, comfort and design. Of course, a couch that fits well into my living room is the top priority. The next two are a bit more difficult. I hate to sacrifice design for comfort and vice versa. Turns out, there are many options in the Design District that offer both!

My current couch is pretty traditional and so I surprised myself when I began falling for more modern options. Here’s a round up of some of the more contemporary couches I’ve been ogling lately:

Tonight’s Rare Brew: Divine Reserve #11 from Saint Arnold Brewing Company

Posted by    |    May 26th, 2011 at 5:50 am

Double down tonight at The Meddlesome Moth with Divine Reserve #11, a double IPA and this week’s rare brew. A limited production brew from Houston’s Saint Arnold Brewing Company, this rare cask uses hops from the northwest giving it a citrus flavor. The Moth also has a few draft selections left over from last week’s Craft Beer Week, allowing you the unique opportunity to taste the difference between draft beers and cask ales.

Beer aficionados will want to go ahead and put June 13th on their calendar. The Moth will be hosting Adam Avery of Avery Brewing Company for an extraordinary beer dinner where guests will take part in “The Avery Experience.” The dinner will feature five courses and ten different beers — two each course.

Tickets will go fast so call to purchase your reservation or drop in to secure your spot.

The featured menu item this week is their much buzzed about Rolled Gold — a yummy chicken-stuffed waffle pita. Read the dish’s stellar review on the Dallas Observer’s Eat This blog.

The truck will be set up in front of Leslie Taylor Home on Slocum Street. They’ll be serving Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm or however long supplies last!

Tonight’s Rare Brew: Hairy Eyeball & Craft Beer Week

Posted by    |    May 20th, 2011 at 5:50 am

Craft beer is all the rage right now, and there are few bars in Dallas that support this movement as heartily as The Meddlesome Moth. This week The Moth is celebrating craft brewers by hosting Craft Beer Week — a seven-day celebration devoted to promoting some of the country’s finest craft brewers, including several that are Texas-based.

Tonight’s rare brew, Hairy Eyeball, comes from Lagunitas, a microbrewery based in Petaluma, California. The beer is cask conditioned, making for a “malty enigma,” according to Moth cicerone, Matt Quenette.

Three more rare casks will also be tapped this week, including a special, yet to be named selection on Thursday, Saint Arnold’s Divine Reserve 11 IPA on Friday, and Rahr & Son’s Pecker Wrecker on Saturday. (more…)

Designed by Thomas Paul for Duralee, this fresh fabric (pattern # 20872) comes in five fabulous colorways. Surf and Sungold are pictured above, but I also dig the Cherry, Berry and Emerald options!

The pillow print (pattern #20879) is also from Thomas Paul’s collection, and is shown in a lively Kiwi color.
