New from Poggenpohl: +Artesio Kitchen Design

Last week I happily stopped by Poggenpohl to attend a launch party for their new kitchen design, +Artesio. As I entered the showroom, my senses were overwhelmed by the savory aroma of appetizers being prepared in the test kitchen by Subzero/Wolf Chef Rebecca Osborn. I grabbed a cocktail (served on their newly installed counter top from Santa Margherita Italian Surface Company) and settled in to say hellos and get the scoop on the new kitchen.

Ted Chappell, President & CEO of Poggenpohl USA, and Martin Gill, Head of Global Retail, were on hand to show off the latest designs, entertain guests and answer questions. A highlight of the evening was when the cheeky Brit, Mr. Gill, pulled out a drawer and stood in it, proving the strength and durability of Poggenpohl cabinetry!

Though that moment was priceless, the real star of the evening was +Artesio. Designed in collaboration with renowned German architect Hadi Teherani, the new kitchen in Poggenpohl’s line up is a fully integrated kitchen solution with LED lighting and storage. The design showcases many of Teherani’s attributes and areas of expertise. He is a skilled architect, interior designer, has his own product design company and is German. Personally, I thought a partnership with Porsche would be hard to top, but now it’s easy to see that Poggenpohl clearly had something special up their sleeve.

The goal of the design was to make the kitchen a showcase of the house, not just another room. The solution they call “an architectural melting pot that fuses wall, floor and ceiling.” Poggenpohl takes the concept one step further further, also offering furniture designed to fit with the kitchen.

In addition to the new kitchen, Poggenpohl is also rolling out new drawer designs and a slew of optional inserts. I was particularly impressed by the knife insert which uses magnets to keep the drawer organized. After all, there’s nothing worse (or more dangerous!) than a messy knife drawer!

+Artesio was introduced at Eurocucina in Milan this spring and is now available in the United States. The Dallas showroom will have an installed +Artesio kitchen installed soon so you can check it out with your own two eyes!

In the mean time, check out the display sale they’re having to make room for their new wares!
