Implosion of Collin power plant in Frisco failed at first, but not 2 hours later

On July 1st in Frisco something took place that not too many people know about.  A building imploded.

After a two hour wait, the Collin power plant came down in just seconds.  WFAA said that two out of fourteen explosives didn’t go off on the first try.  The head project engineer comments were very odd to me at the time regarding why there was a problem on the first round, but I get it now.

He blamed it on the weather.  This was before we started the 30+ days in a row topping over 100 degrees.  He said the heat magnifies on the steel and really causes things to melt and create problems when blowing up buildings.  The Plano bomb squad was called in for the second try, which was a success.
