At the corner of Commerce St and S Pearl Expy, they meet in secret, discussing ways to improve your community. Last night, You+Dallas hosted the brilliant and creative minds of TEDxSMU to walk them through their Superchannel page, which will go live on our website in one week (look out, world).
You+Dallas’s relationship with TEDxSMU started when President Jeff Hinson attended a TEDxSMU conference and wanted something more. “What happens if we take these ideas and come up with a way to apply [them],” said Sharon Lyle, Director of TEDxSMU & TEDxKids. “We want to dream big and then go do something about it,” says Hinson.
The Supperchannel is a new concept in idea generation. The TEDxSMU bloggers were shown how to contribute ideas to the site to facilitate discussion and brainstorm with the community. “Everyone is here tonight because this is a group that is ‘plugged in’ in a digital format,” Sharon noted. TEDxSMU and You+Dallas have a likeminded interest in people coming together for a better cause; everyone present at the event has a passion for building a better community. “What happens if we actually get to know our neighbors? It could be pretty spectacular,” Hinson says with a smile, “That’s a win.”
