Men are NOT Mind Readers…

Posted by    |    September 30th, 2010 at 3:07 pm

So how about we stop treating them like they were?  Recently, a friend and I were at lunch, and she received an upsetting phone call.  Her contractor, a man, had decided not to finish work at one property because he wanted to get started on her other property.  This decision came conveniently after he deposited a five figure check from her.

Sitting across from her at the table, I could sense her frustration.  I observed her hand to her forehead, her wrinkled brow and noted her sighs.  She ended the conversation with, “OK” and looked at me.  I sat silent but gave her my best, “Now what” look.   This is when she said it..

“I KNOW he could tell that I was upset with him.”

How Quickly Do You Fall in Trust?

Notice that I said, “trust” not love.   Love is something that generally happens after trust is established, but how quickly do you take that leap of faith?  I’m interested in this topic because, traditionally, I’m on the naive end of the “trust spectrum,” but as I get older and have more life experiences, I notice that when I trust has changed significantly.

In society today, people are more connected than ever-Facebook, Twitter, Texting, and Instant Messaging to name a few.  However, they are also more disconnected on an interpersonal basis than ever.  Often times this can lead to a disconnect when evaluating a person’s trustworthiness.

When To Make Like Jay-Z and Move On To the Next One

Disclaimer: Guys-I heart you all. I want to spare you embarrassment. However, I’m dishing out a little tough love for you so brace yourselves.

Don’t be This Guy-Part One

When a girl says, “You should probably go find your friend.” You should probably go find your friend. No, don’t come back with your friend. She doesn’t want to talk to him either.

If a girl is on her phone texting while you try to make a move, do not stand there and wait for her to finish. She has her face in the phone so you will stop attempting to suck face with her. It’s nicer than taking her stiletto and jabbing it into your, uh, foot. Now, would be the time to go find that friend of yours.

Mistakes Men Make in Bars

On a recent Saturday evening, my friend and I headed up to J. Blacks on Henderson for some cocktails and girl talk.  If you haven’t been to J. Blacks, the drinks are generous, the atmosphere is boisterous, and the music never disappoints. The clientele is truly a melting pot of Dallas that makes it less pretentious than most Dallas hot spots. It has been elevated to one of my favorite places to grab a bite or hang with a friend for drinks.

However, the ratio of men to women on this night was ridiculous—10-5. My friend and I were inadvertently thrust into the snake pit, and several unfortunate, albeit well-meaning gentleman attempted to make our acquaintance. Bless their hearts.
