The Dark Knight Rises, the final installment of visionary writer and director Christopher Nolan’s Batman series, is an epic, emotional, action-filled feature that could very likely go down as the best Batman film of all time. This summer blockbuster truly raises the bar on sci-fi comic book super hero films and is a legendary conclusion to Nolan’s Batman Trilogy. Fans who have been deeply anticipating the release of Nolan’s newest Batman movie will be abundantly satisfied. It seems like a hard feat to overshadow the previous Batman flick, The Dark Knight, but The Dark Knight Rises soars to the challenge.
Given an 87% critic “likes” from Rotten Tomatoes, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This film succeeds The Dark Knight by eight years in which we saw the attempted destruction of Gotham City by the Joker (Heath Ledger) and Batman’s descent as guardian of Gotham City after taking the blame for the death of district attorney Harvey Dent. Now, when Bane (Hardy), a villainous, mad terrorist, sets his sites on Gotham, Bruce Wayne (Bale) is forced to resume the role of the caped crusader. Much has changed in Gotham City and Batman soon discovers he is not the man he used to be. Amidst the turmoil over the death of Dent, Batman’s return, and a major power struggle causing chaos in Gotham, Batman and company must find a way to stop Bane before he unleashes a nuclear bomb on the city. The Dark Knight Rises is an entertaining, powerful thrill ride.
