There’s no better holiday than one that is based on eating and drinking (mostly drinking). This weekend, Fair Park will host its 11th Annual Mardis Gras Bash in an attempt to save Dallasites the grueling nine-hour drive from the Big D to NOLA (which I have previously done, and acquired a ticket in the process).
The perks to keeping your car parked at your own home this weekend, as opposed to the flooded-with-people Bourbon Street, will be the music. Mardis Gras Bash is boasting twenty-eight bands on five stages on one day, Saturday, Feb.18th. Instead of classic New Orleans Jazz, Fair Park will host traditional bands more our speed, such as country band Jason Boland & the Stragglers, who will play at 8:45pm on the Coors Light Stage, promoting their sixth studio album, Rancho Alto (produced by Llyod Maines). The band has received accolades from CMT and the Wall Street Journal, so be sure to wear your beads and check them out.
The line up also includes Josh Abbott Band, Reckless Kelly and the Eli Young Band, among others. The rest of the bands can be found here.
