Dallas, are you ready for one of the greatest brunch experiences in the country? For 20 years House of Blues has been providing spiritual and bodily nourishment with their world famous Gospel Brunch and this year they’re making it bigger and better with Grammy-winning gospel legend Kirk Franklin. On May 12th (Mother’s Day) Dallas will get a chance experience all the greatness the Gospel Brunch has to offer, from live performances of some the best and most joyous gospel music to the delicious Southern inspired food.
This past Sunday, YouPlusDallas had the honor of filming the promotional video for the upcoming event and we thought you’d enjoy a behind the scenes shot to get you ready for one of the best Mother’s Days you’ll ever have.

“House of Blues Gospel Brunch is an American institution, so I am honored to be working hand-in-hand with them to revitalize the experience for music fans of all ages. This has really been a labor of love for me and I’m excited for everyone to see what we’ve created when we kick things off on Mother’s Day.”-Kirk Franklin

You know what the worst feeling is? Finding out your favorite band is in town, like tomorrow, and it’s too late to buy tickets. It’s right up there with dropping your milkshake.
So I’ve done a little scouting for you, and mind you it’s a little bias (ex. I opted not to put Umphreys’ McGee on here, but who knows that might be your dream concert) but I would line up early to see all of these shows, and my taste is impeccable.

Since the first House of Blues location opened its doors in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1992, the popular music venue has been a hub of truly exceptional blues, jazz, gospel, and roots-based rock and roll. It was founded by Dan Aykroyd, Judy Belushi (wife of the late John), and Hard Rock Café co-founder Isaac Tigrett to be just that, as well as a home for original folk art and a source for quality, southern-inspired cuisine.
Since Live Nation acquired HOB in 2006, the two companies have been dedicated to giving back. In honor of the venue’s 20th anniversary, $1 from every concert ticket sold during the 20 month celebration will go towards “Action for the Arts,” a program that promotes cultural understanding and encourages creative expression. Additionally, in the spirit of the founding values of House of Blues, venues across the nation provided 20,000 Thanksgiving meals to the needy in 2012.

Since shooting her first House of Blues show last summer, we’ve been prepared to expect big things from local artist, Bean. We saw an effervescence and a joy behind her music that would help her float effortlessly among the sea of pop hopefuls. And while she still has a ways to go before hitting T. Swift status, it’s been remarkable to watch her journey so far.
Her newest accomplishment: being named BMI’s “Pick of the Month” this February. She’ll perform tonight, February 22, 2013 at Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. BMI’s “Pick of the Month” has been designed to showcase hand-picked, up-and-coming artists, exposing them to the music industry and the public through a top-notch venue and discounted admission.

Who: Flogging Molly
When: Saturday, Februay 16 @ 8 p.m.
Where: House of Blues, 2200 N Lamar St, Dallas, TX 75202
Tickets: $33-$40.50
Flogging Molly is Irish. Like really, really Irish. They’re so Irish in fact, that they’re 9th annual Green 17 tour is basically just a month-long Saint Patrick’s Day celebration. But for the fans who have followed this eclectic mix of punk rock and traditional Celtic music, they don’t just want Flogging Molly to come for Saint Patrick’s Day; they need them to come.
An opportunity to see Flogging Molly live is an experience. Their look and sound may be perfect for someone looking to have fun and drink heavily on Saint Patty’s big day, but what has kept the Green 17 tour a staple for nine years is Flogging Molly’s explosive and passionate live shows.

The Internation House of Blues Foundation’s Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration was full of life, incredible talent, and inspiring thoughts. Four-time Grammy award winning singer/songwriter and Dallas’ own Erykah Badu kicked off the event by addressing the packed main theater.

So the Faint are going to be at the House of Blues on the 27th of November. You should be really excited about this because they are one of the best bands to see live. When I saw the Faint for the first time a couple of years ago I had heard of them but never really listened to them extensively, but a bunch of my friends were going and they told me you could dance to their music. Being one to never pass up an opportunity to dance around to live music I took a chance and went. It was a really good decision. The Faint’s music is a blend of dark electronic music and rock, and my friends were right you can definitely dance to it, which we did along with hundreds of other people, from the time they started playing until they stopped . What I like so much about the Faint is that they are able to successfully recreate the heavy, layered sound they have on their records during their live performances which isn’t always the case with bands that have a similar sound. The band members themselves have so much energy, they get as excited as the crowd does! Even if you’re like I was and have never listened to them you should still go, you won’t be disappointed, and if for some reason you don’t like the band it’ll still be a lot of fun watching their fans go crazy.
