Chevy Music Showcases Best of Dallas Music Scene at Sundown at Granada this Summer

Posted by    |    April 3rd, 2013 at 12:39 pm

As the warmer temps begin to melt away any memories of winter, they make way for something much, much better: summer chevy music showcase - sundown - granadaconcerts. Thanks to Chevy Music Showcase, Dallas’ lone specialty beer garden and little brother to historic Granada Theater, Sundown at Granada is going to be filled with some of the best summer concerts the Dallas local music scene has to offer with a live show on the last Thursday of every month.

“We’re excited to see the North Texas Chevy Dealers embrace our local music scene and appreciate how they’re investing resources to showcase local bands and help draw more attention to the crazy amount of great talent right here in our own back yard,” said Granada Theater’s Mike Schoder.

Here are some of the first bands that have been released. We’d come up with our own descriptions, but the ones from the press release were way too on point to be messed with.

Burning Hotels – 4/25

Sex-wave, full of energy with electronic textures, danceable rhythms & catchy hooks.

GOES GOOD WITH: The Killers, Depeche Mode, Twin Shadow, New Order

We get it, The xx, you’re pretty cool. You’re so cool that you’re completely sold out for tomorrow night’s show at Granada. If I didn’t hear it from this press release, I would have gleaned it from the barrage of Facebook status’ either boasting about their ticket possession or just trying to get their hands on some.

Some Dallas Super Bowl Parties We Think Sound Cool

Posted by    |    January 30th, 2013 at 4:16 pm

super bowl dallasI’m not going to pretend that the two things that excite me most about Sunday’s Super Bowl aren’t the commercial breaks and the possibility of a Destiny’s Child reunion. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’ll watch pretty much anything at a watching party. Because really, what’s the point of watching anything if there’s no one next to you to make comments with? None. Exactly.

Here are some Dallas bars and restaurants we think sound like the perfect place to sit with friends, drink some beer, and make comments about the Super Bowl – and Beyonces legs.

Get Your Legwarmers and Jellies Ready: Granada Presents Totally 80s with Le Cure

What:          Totally 80′s with Le Cure

When:         December 27, 2012

Where:       Granada Theater, 3524 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, 75206

I could try to come up with some witty opening paragraph filled with beloved 80s references and like, totally rad 80s slang, but as I am a child of the 90s (barely missing the decade by 7 days) I would have no clue what I was talking about. So I’ll let this press release, written by someone presumably 7 days older than me, speak for itself.

Upcoming Video: Burning Hotels

Posted by    |    January 11th, 2012 at 3:00 pm

As we recently named Fort Worth outfit Burning Hotels’ single “Beard” to be our top local song of 2011, we haven’t been able to stop crushing on them in the New Year. This Saturday, January 14, YouPlusDallas will be at Granada Theater catching the catch-all at the Local Edge Presents Burning Hotels with Mon Julien, Air Review and Menkena. Our camera crew will be hovering just below the stage, an arm’s-length away from Chance Morgan and Matt Mooty’s shiny shoes, capturing the glory on film for you, our darling audience, and transforming it into a certified Artist Interview Session.

We’ve hung out with Burning Hotels a lot, but have yet to devote an Artist Interview Session video to the sex wave rockers, until now. Here are some fun times we’re currently reminiscing on as we anxiously await this weekend’s events. Check it.
