Now that the full film list for the Dallas International Film Festival has officially been released, Dallas movie lovers can really begin to get excited. Approximately 180 films from all around the world will be featured at the 7th edition of the Dallas IFF, and they all promise to be brilliant. But as with any collection of greatness, some things still manage to catch your eye. Over the next weeks leading up to the DIFF opening night on April 4, we will be featuring some of the films that especially excite us.
First up, “Unfinished Song,” starring Vanessa Redgrave, Gemma Atherton, and Terence Stamp. In some cases, it was the big names that caught our eye, or the trailer, or even the location, but this one was all about the description.
Unfinished Song is a funny and inspiring story about Arthur (Terence Stamp), a curmudgeonly old soul, who is perfectly content sticking with his dull daily routine until his beloved wife (Vanessa Redgrave) introduces him to a local seniors singing group. The group is led by the youthful and charming Elizabeth (Gemma Arterton) and her unexpected friendship with Arthur reignites his passion for new adventures and shows us all life should be celebrated at any age.
It looks a little bit like Pitch Perfect with the elderly, which we love. Top it off with a “curmudgeonly old soul” and you’ve got yourself a winner.
Director Paul Andrew Williams’ Unfinished Song will be showing on Tuesday, April 9 at 10:14 p.m. at the Angelika and once again at the Angelika on Sunday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. Head to DallasFilm.org for more information.
