Air Review Album Release at Trees

air review

Where: 2709 Elm St  Dallas, TX 75226

When: Friday, January 25 @ 7 PM

Tickets: $10

How serendipitous! I distinctly remembered an Artist Interview Session we did with Air Review a couple years back so I searched our site and wouldn’t you know, they had just played at Club Dada for the Burning Hotels Album Release Party when the video was shot. Now the Dallas natives are playing (at Trees) in celebration of their own album release. Learn more about their new album at AirReview.net.

Geographer at Club Dada geographer club dada

Where: 2720 Elm St. Dallas, TX 75226

When: Friday, January 25 @ 9 PM

Tickets: $13

Geographer’s mix of electronic, pop, and indie immediately won us over. Their beautifully haunting melodies crafted from personal experiences have endeared them to audiences everywhere and their upbeat dynamic performances have left their mark on anyone who sees them live. Listen to Kites and tell us you’re not in love.

If anyone needed convincing that Dallas has a killer art scene even after Art Con and the Dallas Observer Music Awards, ‘Artopia’ should do the trick. In its third year, Dallas Obsever’s ‘Artopia is a celebration of Dallas’ vibrant art and culture scene. It’s an artsy melting pot of local culture, fashion, visual and performing arts and more.

General Admission is $40 online $50 day of, BUT if you use our promo code YOUPLUSDALLAS when you purchase tickets online you’ll get in for $25. GA includes food, cocktails, a wine, beer and cocktail sampling along with entertainment.

Check out our video from last year’s Artopia

A.Dd+: DiveHiFlyLo Release Party at Granada a.dd granada album release

Where: 3524 Greenville Ave Dallas, TX 75206

When: Saturday, January 26 @ 8 PM

Tickets: $12-35

These guys are awessome. Listen to “Can’t Come Down.” Recognize the song they’ve mixed in there? It’s Britney Spear’s “Toxic.”  I love them.

The duo who had a huge night at the 2012 Dallas Observer Music Awards, winning Best Group Act, Best Rap/Hip-Hop Act, will release the Mixed Tape “DiveHiFlyLo” at their first headlining show at the Granada Theater on Saturday, January 26, 2013.

Ty Segall at Club Dada ty segall club dada

Where: 2720 Elm St. Dallas, TX 75226

When: Saturday, January 26 @ 8 PM

Tickets: $13

Listening to Ty Segall is like listening to a collage of all the great rockers. The Laguna Beach native has evolved from the White Stripes-esque raw, garage band rock as the lead singer of the Epsilons to a sweeter, softer rock (late Beatles-esque) in his more recent solo albums. 2012 was a year for making several “Best Of” lists, getting great press, and performing on Fallon and Conan (a surefire mark of success in my book). Now Segall continues to take on the lo-fi music world by touring in support of his newest album, Twins, available on Drag City.

Hypnotic Donut Dash at Fair Park hypnotic donut dash

Where: 1229 Admiral Nimitz Circle Dallas, TX 75219

When: Saturday, January 26 @ 8 AM

Tickets: $30, $15 for children 12 and under

You’ve seen those ridiculously appetizing billboards for Hypnotic Donuts all over Dallas. You’ve been a little intimidated, but mostly curious. You want them but you can’t have them. When you combine cake and bacon, there’s no turning back. But what if you ran a 5K before leaping into a pile of warm and doughies? Totally doable.

Enjoy a good run, tons of free donuts and beer, a t-shirt, and a live DJ.

There’s also a Chubby Bunny Contest.
