Comedian Rick Miller is probably best known for impersonating twenty-five of the most annoying voices in the music industry in his rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Now he’s bringing his insane vocal talents and his worldwide hit MacHomer to the big D’s Winspear Opera House on November 15. The one-man-show brings William Shakespeare’s MacBeth to life with Miller channeling more than 50 characters from The Simpsons.
So maybe it’s not quite Shakespeare, but the most important elements remain making it one of those rare performances that’s both entertaining and educational. The imaginatively staged, multimedia update was described by the LA Times as, “Terrific! It’s intelligent; often hilariously funny… the laughs are continuous.”
The idea came from an episode of The Simpsons (“Four Great Women and a Manicure”). So prepare yourself for a little life imitating art imitating life or something mind-bending like that, or simply sit back and be amazed at the extreme adaptability of one man’s voice.
