Effervescent is the best word to describe Spanish pop star, Natalia Jimenez. Her bubbly and endearing personality and music could not have been a more perfect conclusion for the concert series Conexion en Vivo. “It’s upbeat, very young and very fun,” said Jimenez.
The Conexion en Vivo Tour, is a multi-city celebration presented by MundoFox, a new Spanish language broadcasting network set to launch on August 13, 2012.
MundoFox is a joint venture between Fox International Channels (FIC) and RCN Television, the leading Latin American television network and production company. Network executives are hoping to achieve the same success Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation achieved with the Fox Broadcasting Company 26 years ago.
Emiliano Saccone, president of MundoFox, believes in the importance of maintaining the FOX brand name. “We’ve heard people over the last few years increasingly saying that content is king. We think that if content is king, then the brand is a castle. We’re all about brand and a proof of that is what Fox stands for,” said Saccone.
With top advertisers like Toyota and L’Oreal already on board, MundoFox is hoping to repeat FOX’s success by going after the same demographic (18-49) but with Spanish-language watchers.
MundoFox aims to fill a void that Hispanics in the U.S. have been vocal about for years. A lot of it will be original broadcasting repurposing some FOX shows but also providing original content that .
Conexion en Vivo offered cities a firsthand look at what to expect from MundoFox. Featuring top network talent, prizes and games and performances from some of the biggest Latin chart-toppers like Tito “El Bambino” and Christopher Von Ukermann, the concert is non-stop entertainment.
The series kicked off on July 7 at House of Blues Los Angeles and continued on to New York, Chicago, Miami and Anaheim. August 4 marked the end of Conexion en Vivo’s run, with Vinyl Soul opening for Natalia Jimenez at House of Blues Dallas.
Keep an eye out for the launch of MundoFox on August 13, 2012 on channel 52 in Dallas.
