Armed with my cowboy boots, ridiculously large, overpriced margarita and an entire day’s worth of listening to nothing but county music on Spotify, I was finally ready to experience the Kenny Chesney/Tim McGraw superconcert this past Saturday at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. The co-headlining Brothers of the Sun Tour features Chesney and McGraw along with opening acts by Jake Owen and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.
Missing the CMA Fest in Nashville was heartbreaking, but the Brothers of the Sun Tour more than made up for my pain. McGraw and Chesney sang all their hit songs. Literally, ALL of them; since the concert is a whopping 6 hours long.
As much fun as I had at this epic concert, I don’t think anyone had more fun then Kenny or Tim. They sang everything from “Beer in Mexico” and “When the Sun Goes Down” to “I Like It, I Love It” and “Just to See You Smile.” McGraw had a really strange encore where he tried to promote the hashtag, #truckyeah, that you would have to have seen to believe. The two came together at the end of the show in all their cowboy hat and muscle-tee glory and created a truly memorable experience.
Owen must have been absent during the Dallas stint, but Grace Potter was phenomenal. Not only is she absolutely stunning, but her voice is almost better in concert than it is in my headphones. I am literally obsessed. I’m even considering replacing Mila Kunis with Potter on my girl crush list. It’s a big deal y’all.
