The Fall touring season is wrapping up like the VMAs during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech – but like Kanye’s incessant need to anger everyone in a 10-foot radius — it ain’t stoppin’ yet. Here are the shows I’m looking forward to before 2010 is Seacrest out.
TOMORROW 12/1: Needtobreathe at House of Blues Dallas. Don’t know them? Browse album The Heat – catchy contemporary rock riffs will have you singing along in your car (who cares if people stare). Also, if you enjoy the movie P.S. I Love You, this band will serve as your own trail of love notes.
On 12/10 you’ll have to choose wisely.
Dave Barnes is back on Dec 10 at The Prophet Bar [Big Room]. While there are elements of gospel woven in to his melodies, this dude brings the funny. Think: Matt Nathanson’s At the Point (Live) album.
Tony Lucca, Jay Nash, and Matt Duke are playing at Prophet Bar [smaller room]. This will tide my singer-songwriteriness over to the new year. Matt Duke is a soulful boy with a razor sharp edge and I like it.
Also Wu Tang Clan is at Granada. Talk about decisions.
12/17: J Rhodes at The Prophet Bar. Talented producer/rapper. He’s won contests across the US. And while I’ve never seen him, I’ve heard cool things from friends in the local band Make 10 (who btw is on the hunt for a bass player, so if you’re a regular Paul Rudd at slappin’ the bass, lemme know).
A few announced shows I’m looking forward to in the spring:
