Watters Creek Goes Green & Adds Irish Fun!

Posted by    |    March 14th, 2012 at 4:31 pm

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Watters Creek will “go green” on Saturday, March 17 as they dye the creek that runs through the center green. Don’t miss out on seeing the only creek in Dallas-Fort Worth dyed green in celebration of the Emerald Isle’s most famous holiday.

The safe, non-toxic ingredients used to dye the creek green biodegrade naturally, gradually turning the water to its original color within a week with no harmful effect on wildlife.

In addition to the green creek, Irish festivities will include:

Saturday, March 17

· Enjoy live music from 5 Second Rule on The Green from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

· Lucky Duck Kids Club from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Children ages three to 12 can enjoy several free educational Irish themed hands-on activities from Primrose Schools of East & West Allen.

*All festivities are free and open to the public.

Dive-In Movie

Posted by    |    June 23rd, 2011 at 10:33 pm

No, it’s not a Drive-In movie. In Allen, Texas, they have turned Drive-In into Dive-In. At the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, people dive into the leisure pool for a relaxing night around the water and then enjoy a screening of a fairly recent movie.

On designated Saturday nights, parents take their kids, some take a date and friends take each other to hop in the pool. After a hot day, a night under the stars and cooling off in the pool is exactly what the doctor ordered.

The Natatorium offers noodles and rafts for rent. They also have a concession stand to provide food for those empty stomach or those must have “movie munchies”.

The Recreation Hall

Posted by    |    June 22nd, 2011 at 10:29 pm

The Recreation Hall in Allen hosts a weekly dance for adults with disabilities on Fridays from 7-10PM. Adults with disabilities usually have very few options for entertainment in their lives. Not only does Allen provide entertainment for them, but also the weekly dance gives adults with disabilities an opportunity to come together and celebrate life with others similar to themselves.

The dance always has a unique and fun theme, and the Recreation Hall provides snacks and a photo booth to capture memories that these adults will cherish for a lifetime. Most exciting, these adults are not listening to an iPod or DJ, Allen brings in live music for them to enjoy. This gives adults who don’t like dancing the option of just watching and listening to an entertaining band. At this party, there is a place for everyone.

In and Out Burger Allen, Texas Opening

Posted by    |    May 10th, 2011 at 5:24 pm

For all of you In and Out Burger Fans in Allen, wait no longer!

On Wednesday May 11th 2011 at approximately 10:30am, In and Out Burger will open its doors for double-double and animal style fanatics.  My family enjoyed a meal tonight at The Olive Garden, which is next to the new In and Out Burger, and you could see a steady stream of cars driving by taking pics, etc.

I noticed the Channel 8 van parked nearby and went over to talk to Steve Stoler about the opening.  He said, “People in North Texas find stories like the opening of an In and Out a very interesting topic.”  He was reporting live on the six o clock news.

There also was a security guard outside the doors pacing to make sure people didn’t line up for the opening.  Tonight was family night and the workers were coming out in droves with big smiles on their faces and their new uniforms and hats.

The question is . . . “Who will be the first person in Texas to eat an In and Out burger?”
